Here are some resources for teaching chance.

  • Studyladder has a range of simple chance activities at various levels. These include possible/impossible statements, and chance experiments.
  • Bitesize seems to only include probability from KS2: Bamzooki Probability
  • ABC Count Us In Chance game
  • Beenleigh has a list of chance games on the web
  • Greedy Pig is best played with an understanding of chance. The Game of Skunk seems to be similar
  • Rainforest Maths has some good simple chance activities - "How likely is it that a dung beetle will come out of the bag" (!) - so this is great if you have access to Rainforest Maths via Mathletics
  • Spinner at shodor.org (Java based)
  • A simple coin flipper - you control how many times the coin is flipped
  • Virtual coin toss at PBS - you choose how many times to toss the coin, and cumulative stats are recorded
  • List of probability related activities at http://classroom.jc-schools.net/basic/math-prob.html
  • BBC Fish Tank - simple fractional probability activity
  • IXL Maths has some good chance activities but they have recently restricted free access on a "activities per day" basis - so this is only suitable for small groups or occasional use.
